Three Niagara teens who pushed a stranded motorist’s car for nine kilometres to save her the expense of a tow are social media celebrities after a photo of their random act of kindness was posted online.“We were at the right place at the right time, and this is one of those stories that we can look back on in 10 years and say it was one of those crazy things we did, but it was all worth it,” said 18-year-old Aeron McQuillin.Aeron, Bailey Campbell and Billy Tarbett were on their way to Tim Hortons on Tuesday around 12:30 a.m. when they noticed steam coming from under the hood of a car stopped along Highway 20 in Fonthill.The trio, all admitted car fanatics, took a look at the car and told the driver and her passenger the car probably needed a new engine. They advised against trying to drive it.That’s when Billy suggested they push the car to the woman’s home in Welland, so she wouldn’t have to pay for a tow.“We had nothing better to do, but even if we did I would like to think we would have helped her anyway,” the 15-year-old said.The teens, who have only known each other for the past eight months, grabbed water bottles and pushed the Chevy Cobalt along Merritville Highway into Welland.Niagara Falls resident Dan Morrison, who also stopped to assist the driver, followed behind the boys with the four-way flashers on his vehicle turned on.They completed the trip in just under two hours.The teens, who live on the same street in Fonthill, arrived back home around 4:30 a.m.“We woke up to our phones blowing up with messages and Facebook notifications from total strangers showing their appreciation and gratitude for our random act of kindness,” said Aeron, who recently graduated from A.N. Myer Secondary School.Morrison had posted a photo of the boys on Facebook on Wednesday, with a brief description of their good deed.As of Friday morning, his photo had been shared 15,000 times and garnered nearly 3,000 comments ...
